David Lotzgesell

Dave was elected to the Calallam County Charter Review Commission, representing District 1 in 2004.  He became interested in serving on the Commission again in 2020 in order to protect our County Charter from being the testing ground for radical ideas.  Although having run before, he wisely contacted the Independent Advisory Association in May 2019 to give him the best chance of winning a seat on the Commission.  After receiving our Candidate's Basic Training Package, he decided to run and won the most votes of any candidate in any district (a total of 40 were running across all three County Commissioner Districts).  Due to his receiving the most votes, he was installed as the temporary chair when the new Commission was commissioned in January 2020.

Dave hopes to bring a consistent level of common sense to the Charter Review Commission.  Somewhat like our county's constitution, he feels strongly that the County Charter should provide a basic framework for governing, not govern on its own.  Coupled with his strong sense of traditional core values, he wants to make sure that the Charter Commission does not become the place to try out radical concepts that can not be changed without changing the Charter by future commissions which meet only every five years.
